Going Deeper with the Message

Watch the people in a line-up for a huge roller coaster and you may see a great range of emotions. Some people can’t wait for the ride to start, some get quieter as they approach the front of the line, and some look quite terrified as soon as they are buckled in and there’s no going back.

At the end of the ride, there are always those who rush to get back in the line and go again; there are those who walk away, ready to never go near a roller coaster again; and there are those who look at it from a distance, wondering if perhaps they should give it another chance. Roller coasters – wonder and joy mingled together.

Easter brings us a mix of similar feelings.  Joy – the pain and darkness of death has been overcome by God. Wonder – how did this happen and what does it mean? Some people hear the story and want to race back to the beginning to hear it again, some walk away and dismiss it, and some will watch from a distance, wondering if perhaps they should give God another chance.
