Prayer is an important way of connecting with God. Setting aside an intentional time for prayer each day offers a chance to reflect on the things we are thankful for, the things we struggle with, the things we want to ask God to help us with, and the things we have questions about. Prayer takes many forms: spoken, silent, sung, and in motion. Some simply talk to God the way they would a trusted friend. Some people like to spend time in silence, using a mantra (i.e. a short phrase like “break open my heart God” or “come, Lord Jesus.”) to help focus their minds and avoid the distractions of other thoughts. Some people like to keep a prayer journal – they write a letter to God each day, this can provide a reminder of what we have prayed for and which prayers have been answered. Some people use song as prayer. No matter how you pray, know that God is listening and always responds – even when the answer we seek is not the answer we get. If you are interested in finding out more about prayer or need help with your prayer life, we can help with that. As well, if you have someone or something you would like us to pray about, please let us know and we will be happy to do that. |
