Did you know……………..
In 1955 the stained glass windows were installed by Westmacott Paint and Glass Company from Winnipeg. It was through a Window Fund that members of the congregation were invited to purchase a pane and have a plaque engraved with the donor’s name. One of the first donors was Rosemont’s Lane Circle as a memorial to Rev. Dr. John Lane.
In 1964 the Rosemont congregation celebrated its Golden Jubilee with appropriate services and an anniversary cake. Some of the old-timers found their thoughts going back to the early days and were heard to murmur “Can it be that fifty (50) years have already gone by?”
In 1967, Canada’s Centennial Year, the Laing family presented the church with four Centennial Memorial Flags -the Christian Flag, Union Flag, Canadian Flag and Saskatchewan Flag.
In the seventies the Choir staged a well-remembered concert, the highlight of which was a performance by the “Rosemont Rockettes” – the ladies of the choir doing a slightly amended version of the can-can. This almost brought the house down in more ways than one!
In 1976 a complaint was received that the coffee and juice after Sunday service was unnecessary and expensive. However a motion was passed to carry on with the practice as the majority felt it encouraged fellowship among worshippers.
